It is all in your device. SCAN ANY WAY YOU WANT Add books in seconds by scanning a barcode or photographing a printed ISBN. No barcode or ISBN? Search OpenLibrary.org in app and select from a results list. CodexScan handles the rest. Print your own barcode, using a pseudo-ISBN number created by CodexScan. Or write to an NFC sticker tag instead. Another NFC tap reads it back and searches your library. You can also add books manually if it is not available in Open Library or Google Books. AUTOMATIC METADATA Title, author, genre, cover art, publication year, and page count are fetched automatically from Open Library and Google Books. TRACK EVERY COPY Own multiple copies of the same book? CodexScan tracks each physical copy independently — its own circulation record, check-in/check-out status, and borrower history — while sharing a single star rating across the group. LENDING MADE SIMPLE Check copies out to friends with a borrower name and due date. CodexScan sends local notifications the day before and on the due date so nothing slips through the cracks. SYNC AND BACKUP CloudKit sync keeps your library up to date across every iPhone and iPad signed into your Apple ID, with record-level conflict resolution and incremental change tracking. You can also store your database in iCloud Drive for simple file-level sharing. Timestamped backup files can be saved to Files or shared via AirDrop. MULTI-USER SHARED LIBRARIES CodexScan can be used by multiple people when everyone works from the same shared library database. This is useful for household, classroom, office, club, church, and small-library collections where more than one person may add books or manage circulation. Changes made by any user in the group are pushed live into the shared library database. New book additions, edits, check-outs, and check-ins become available to the group so everyone is working from the same current catalog. For circulation workflows, treat the shared library as the source of truth before lending or returning books. If one user checks out a copy, that status is reflected for the rest of the group. EXPORT AND IMPORT Export a full PDF catalog, a single-book PDF, a printable barcode label sheet, or a CSV file — optionally with embedded cover images. Import a CSV to add books in bulk or create a brand-new named library from a file.
