After 20 years in tech, I found myself laid off and staring down a career change I never saw coming. I decided to become a Certified Medical Assistant — and as someone who's spent two decades building software, my instinct was to build something to help me study. That's how CMA Crosswords was born. Each puzzle focuses on a specific topic from the CMA (AAMA) certification exam — anatomy, pharmacology, insurance coding, lab procedures, clinical skills, and more. Instead of flashcards or practice tests, I wanted something that made the vocabulary stick in a different way. Crosswords force you to think about how words are spelled, how long they are, and how they connect — and that repetition quietly builds the kind of recall you need when it counts. The app covers 13 topic areas across more than 100 levels, progressing from beginner to advanced. Track your stars, beat your times, and work your way through the material at your own pace. A few honest words: I built this for myself. I am not a medical professional, educator, or test-prep expert. This app is not affiliated with the AAMA or any certifying body, and I make absolutely no guarantee that playing these puzzles will help you pass — or pass anything.
