Illustrative example: an invoice app for independent contractors. Your kit is tailored to the app you choose; this is not its generated content.

Feature spec

Goal: Send a clear invoice after finishing a job.

  • Add a client, line items, a due date, and payment instructions.
  • Preview the total before exporting a PDF.
  • Keep an editable draft if export fails.

Screen plan

Invoice editor: Client at the top, editable line items in the middle, total and preview action at the bottom.

States: Empty draft, validation errors beside each field, exporting, and a retry action that preserves the draft.

Differentiate and validate

Hypothesis: Contractors need faster repeat invoices more than more templates.

First experiment: Test duplicating a previous job with five contractors. Watch where they hesitate before expanding the feature set.

The full kit adds a phased build plan, evidence notes, tool prompts, and implementation guidance. It is a plan for your coding agent, not a finished app.

Usage: Mechanics are fair game; never reuse the original name, branding, assets, or verbatim copy.

App Store description

A shooting diary that does the copying for you. Most of us are handed a paper game card at the end of the day, take it home, and weeks later sit down with the whole stack to write it all out by hand. This app is that book, without the transcription. PHOTOGRAPH THE CARD Point your phone at the game card and the app reads it — the date, the guns, the bag by species, the cartridges, the drives. It shows you what it found and waits for you to approve it before filling anything in, so a card it misreads costs one tap to discard rather than a mess to tidy up. Names are matched against people already in your diary, so a surname the handwriting mangled is put right on its own. THREE KINDS OF DAY Driven shooting, with the bag broken down by species, cartridges used and the cartridges-per-bird figure worked out for you. Stalking, with species, sex, weight, shot distance and placement, rifle and calibre. Vermin control, with a tally by species and the method and purpose recorded. THE GAME BOOK A whole season laid out as a ledger: every day in order, the running total kept down the right-hand edge, and the season's totals by species. Game, vermin and deer are kept as three separate records, the way a bound game book keeps them, and never added together. At the back, the page a real game book keeps: your best day, your best ratio, the biggest season, the ground you have shot most, and the guns you have shot with most often. IT KNOWS THE SEASONS Record a day outside the usual open season for that species and the app quietly says so. It flags; it never rules, and it never blocks you. A reminder, not legal advice. EVERYTHING ELSE A DAY CARRIES Up to three photographs, the estate and the exact place on the map, participants pulled from your contacts, your own notes, and the weather for that place on that date, looked up automatically. YOUR RECORD STAYS YOURS Everything is stored on your phone. Export the whole diary as a spreadsheet for Numbers or Excel, or take a full backup — every entry and every photograph in a single file you can keep in iCloud Drive or email to yourself. You can restore from that backup at any time, and restoring only ever adds entries back; it never overwrites or deletes what is already there. No account. No subscription. No advertising. Nothing leaves your phone except the coordinates needed to look up that day's weather.

Build scope

Plan a focused first version with your coding agent. These are planning assumptions, not a delivery guarantee.

Define the first version

Choose one audience and one core workflow. Use the kit to agree on its screens, data, and acceptance criteria before building.

Set boundaries

Decide which secondary features, integrations, and platform support can wait. Your version does not need to reproduce everything in the original.

Check the hard parts

Validate external services, specialist technology, data access, and ongoing costs for your chosen scope.

BUILD KIT DIFFICULTY

Not assessed in a Build Kit yet.

A reliable timeline needs an agreed scope and a technical check. Ask your agent to estimate the phases in BUILD_PLAN.md after that review.
